For anyone that doesn't like Norton's drive image utility, this is a much easier to use and cheaper package. To restore only certain files, you only have to connect the image as a virtual disk (via a USB connection for example) and copy those files to their new location. R-Drive Image does this fairly simply by creating a special bootable diskette to restore partitions. You can then restore these images at any time on a removal disk or to replace your corrupted, lost or damaged version. A drive image Disk image file basically contains an exact copy of a hard drive, partition or logical disk and can be created on the fly. Backing up your data with images has many advantages over straightforward file-to-foile backups.įor one they take up less space and two, they're often much easier to restore than conventional backups.
